For us, privacy is more than a checkbox: it's fairness and respect. We avoid anything that undermines trust – especially tracking, profiling, and selling data – and focus on transparency and understandable processes.

2) Scope
This page applies to:
- the Trace website/landing page,
- downloads (e.g. DMG/ZIP, appcast),
- and – as described below – the Trace app (in particular licensing/updates).
3) Principle: no tracking, no ads
We use no tracking (e.g. Google Analytics), no advertising pixels, no retargeting, and no profiling.
We do not sell data and do not run any personal analytics of user behavior.
4) Hosting and server logs
When you visit this website, the web server processes technical data such as:
- IP address,
- date/time,
- requested page/file,
- status code,
- transferred data volume,
- browser/device information (user agent).
Purpose
Website operation, troubleshooting, stability/security (e.g. mitigating abuse).
Retention
As short as possible; typically a few days up to ~30 days (depending on hosting).
6) Contact
If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide (e.g. email address, message content) to respond to your request.
Retention: As long as necessary for handling your request, and potentially longer if statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. purchase-related correspondence).
7) Purchase/checkout and payment processing (FastSpring)
If you buy Trace, payment is processed by FastSpring (merchant of record). FastSpring processes payment and transaction data (e.g. billing/payment details) and provides your receipt.
We receive only the information we need to associate the purchase and provide support (e.g. an order/transaction reference and typically an email address for receipts/license delivery).
For details, FastSpring's privacy policy also applies.
8) Downloads / update checks
When you download installers or updates from our domain, server logs are generated as described in section 4. We do not use these requests for profiling.
9) Trace app: licensing, activation, and updates
9.1 Licensing (key & activation)
If you use licensing, Trace communicates with the licensing service (Keygen) for activation/validation.
Data minimization
Trace transmits only the data necessary for licensing:
- license key
- and a pseudonymous installation identifier (no serial number, no hardware UUID, no MAC address, no username/hostname).
9.2 Updates
Updates are delivered via signed updates (e.g. appcast/update feed). Updates are technically downloaded from a server (server logs as described in section 4).
10) Your rights
You can request access to your personal data and request correction or deletion, provided that no legal obligations prevent it.

11) Data security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data from unauthorized access (e.g. TLS/HTTPS, minimal data collection, access restrictions).

We may update this page if the website, app, or legal requirements change. The current version applies.
